Go on an excursion through the beautiful nature reserves
Discover the two beautiful nature reserves that are located close to Summio Vakantiepark Zeedijk. The Slikken van Flakkee is an enormous nature reserve with extraordinary plants and animals, such as many types of bird like the skylark, Kentish plover, and little tern. Depending on the tide the mudflats are dry at low-tide and fill up again during high-tide. Tip: visit the Slikken van Flakkee during sunrise or sunset for an even more stunning setting.
The other nature reserve close to the Vakantiepark is De Oude Dee This impressive nature reserve was created by land reclamation and offers beautiful hike- and bike routes. You can also come across Charolais cattle here.
Did you know that...
During winter you can even spot flamingos on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee? These extraordinary animals spend the winter at the Grevelingenmeer every year. One of the natural predators of these flamingo’s is the sea eagle, who you can spot here throughout the whole year. Aside from this you can also come across Heck cattle, fjord horses, deer, and foxes during your stay. A unique nature reserve with beautiful animals!

Admire seals in their natural habitat
The Grevelingenmeer is the home base for over 100 seals. So, Seal spotting is an activity that you shouldn’t miss during your holiday near the Grevelingenmeer! Due to the vast number of fish in this lake it is a paradise for seals. After hunting for about 3 to 4 kilograms of fish per day they rest on the land. Navigate the waters with a guide and learn everything about the surrounding area and the seals you will pass. Did you know that a seal can grow up to 2 meters long?
